For Parents

CAPA is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, and our partnership with The University of Massachusetts dates back to 1992. We host more than 2,500 students annually from UMass and other institutions across the US.

CAPA’s mission is to provide meaningful learning abroad experiences that challenge and inspire students to analyze and explore complex political, cultural, and social landscapes within urban environments. Through our commitment to personalized learning, academic rigor, and cultural engagement, we prepare students to live and work in a globally interdependent and diverse world. Over 300 leading colleges and universities choose CAPA as their trusted study abroad partner.

Your student is about to embark on a semester full of adventure, cultural discovery, and personal growth. We recognize that they will need comprehensive support before and during their time abroad as they embark on a new and unfamiliar experience. We are here to support your student throughout the entire process.

CAPA operates on a center-based model, where students take classes and have access to resources (including on-site support staff, study areas, a computer lab, printers, and more) in one convenient location. Students will live within a 30-minute commute to the CAPA London Center.

Pre-Departure

Once your student has applied and been accepted to a CAPA study abroad and/or internship program, CAPA’s Enrollment and Advising Team is here to help with all aspects of pre-departure, from course selection to visa information. Students will be provided with detailed information on each step of the process.

Student Safety Abroad

CAPA is a leader in health and safety management, endorsing NAFSA’s Inter-organizational Task Force on Safety and Responsibility in Study Abroad guidelines. We maintain a comprehensive emergency response plan, provide regular staff training, and retain the services of a professional crisis management organization.

Student Health and Wellness

CAPA is committed to encouraging a safe and healthy environment for our students during their time abroad. Health insurance is provided both to our students as well as visiting faculty. We train staff to provide guidance for a variety of health issues, provide additional support whenever possible for students with disabilities, and adhere to Title IX guidelines.
